Review

The Metaproducts FM8 is essentially a useful application that helps beginner-level users who are struggling with FM synthesis, and lets them easily manipulate the sound with the help of intuitive controls. The novice users may use the software for getting simple tasks done with 960 preconfigured presets categorized as KoreSounds, however the application also caters to the needs of the advanced users featuring operator details, unleashing the entire range of advanced configurable parameters accessible within an immensely enhanced hierarchy.

Moreover the application also features high-end effects, featuring the effects rack allowing the user to add personal touch to any sound, a superb programmable arpeggiator offering a matrix of 32 steps and step sequencer, which automatically adds amazing patterns and accents to the notes played by the user.

It also comes with 10 fresh effects right from talk wah, phaser and flanger to tremolo, reverb, pitch-able delay, pristine and pure to the roughest, down to the dirtiest sonic creations, taking these effects way beyond the stereotypical sound of FM synthesis.

The application also incorporates KoreSound Browser bringing a high degree of effortlessness and speeds up the task of searching and managing presets as well.
Advantages
  • 960 preconfigured presets
Disadvantages
  • Most of the settings can’t be reconfigured and modified as desired, except the arpegiator
